Business Kangaroo Island has now started its membership drive and they are inviting all businesses on KI to join.
Eligibility criteria is simply that you run a business on Kangaroo Island, accept the Charter (as previously published) and pay your membership fee.
Associate memberships are also available for supporters of what Business Kangaroo Island stands for.
According to Chair Sharon Kauppila, Business Kangaroo Island has already developed a constitution, incorporated and created a membership kit.
“We are having a high profile, month-long membership campaign where we hope to get as many members as possible,” Ms Kauppila said.
“Once we have the membership base, we can start to work with them, understand their challenges and opportunities, how these might affect other businesses, and work with them all to bring about positive change.
“We have met with or made representations to several high-profile people including Deputy Premier John Rau, Kangaroo Island Futures Authority Board, proposed golf course developers, proposed Glenelg to Kingscote ferry investors and most recently with Minister for Transport Steven Mullighan.”
The working committee of Business Kangaroo Island comprises Sharron Kauppila (chair), Rodney Bell (deputy chair), Raymond Wadsworth (treasurer), Darren Keenan (secretary and public officer), Tom Fryar, Mark Hardy, Ken Rowe, Graeme Connell and Roger Williams.
The catchphrase for the membership campaign is “Want a positive and prosperous future for Kangaroo Island? Now you can play your part - become a member today”.
Membership for the first year is set at $50.
